DP World Tour: Jordan Gumberg wins Hainan Classic by one stroke to secure second career title

Jordan Gumberg claimed his second career victory on the DP World Tour as he claimed a one-stroke win at the Hainan Classic on Sunday.

The American, who only secured his DP World Tour card for the season with a dramatic eagle on the final hole of last year's Genesis Championship, edged out his final-round playing partner Jorge Campillo in a nail-biting finish.

Gumberg closed with a two-under round of 70 to finish the week 19 under par, while Campillo finished one shot back after his birdie attempt on the final hole failed to drop.

The pair couldn't be separated at the top of the leaderboard heading into Sunday's final round, and that remained the case as both birdied the opening hole.

Campillo claimed the outright lead as Gumberg bogeyed the third, but the American was soon back tied at the top with a birdie at the sixth.

Campillo briefly nudged in front of his partner once more with birdie at the eighth, only for back-to-back bogeys round the turn to prove costly for the Spaniard.

He'd birdie 12 to stay in contention, but only after Gumberg had gained a stroke at 11 to ensure he remained out ahead - which is how it stayed.

England's Marcus Armitage finished tied for third at 15, with Scotland's Euan Walker one shot further back in a share of sixth along with South African Thriston Lawrence.

The DP World Tour continues its 'Asian Swing' with the Hero Indian Open in New Delhi from March 26-29. .
